HALLOWEEN IN MY HOMETOWN

Halloween, which takes place every year on 31st October, is an important event in American. It was believed that on this night the souls of the dead came back and walked among the living. Halloween also was organized in Vietnam on 31st October by teenager in the high school or the university. It is exciting and many people all age are attractive. About two years ago I was invented to a Halloween party at the home of Nam's house. He usually organizes a small Halloween party to encourage the children in my hometown after studying or working hard. The party was prepared carefully and mainly by the children in there.

In the morning on that day, I came to his house with a box of material which I thought might useful for the preparation. I had bought some material at the market in order to give the children who would make masks for themselves. The children had come early before I came. They were very enthusiastic as they worked on their masks. The masks were made very carefully with different shape and color about the ghost and witches. The children cut piece of paper in the shape of their face in order to make masks and then they drew and painted on the masks with a lot of color and pattern. The masks were terrible that made me be scared.Next, the children made the lanterns which were one of the most important things in the party. I was very excited when the children cut grotesque faces from the pumpkins in the shape of an evil face. Next, they put in each candle inside each pumpkin so that the pumpkins could glow over the face through the eyes and month. When they were looking the lanterns they fell happy and intense and so did I.

In the evening, the party started with variety activities. The lights were turned off , some pumpkins were lighted and then all people had to wear the masks and terrible clothes. The adults run around the house in a mask and tried to scare the children. I was excited when I made them scared. The house was full of screaming children. They were running and shouting:”ghost or witches”. It was noisy game but it was really fun. At one point during the evening, if a child who had the most terrible mask which was chose by most of people, he or she would win at the party. Everyone would call him or her a new name:” King of the ghost or Queen of the witches “. Prizes were awarded to them with a big cake and a lovely cat. It was so great. Another game, the children tried to use their teeth in order to pick apples out of a barrel of water. It was difficult game at the evening. If he or she won, they would have a lot of expensive chocolates. After running and shouting around the house, they could some play game or tell about ghost and witches stories. The children sang and danced until the party had finished. That was specific evening for the children. It was really a fantastic experience when they were child without feeling embarrassed to play Halloween.

After the party was ended, the lights were turned on. The children had to come back their home soon. The adults had to stay to clean everything. The pumpkins were given for each child to bring their home to play. We were really happy when we organized the party for children in my hometown, although not like Halloween in American. This was a motivation to encourage the children to be more active and confident in their life so that they were able to overcome the fear in their childhood about ghost and witches. It was significant.

Many people enjoy Halloween to find fun but the children in my hometown can learn a lot of things from the Halloween. This is occasion for me memorable about childhood. I think everyone should have the chance to feel like a child at least once a year. Everyone should take care of the children especially their childhood.
